Keyboard Effects

Critical Privacy Notice: Keyboard Effects does NOT log, record, store, transmit, or share any keystrokes, typed text, passwords, messages, or any other input you type. The App processes only visual/graphical signals (touch coordinates for animation rendering) and discards them immediately after rendering. No input content is ever captured or accessible.
Introduction
Zboston App Studio ("we," "our," or "us"), based in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, operates the Keyboard Effects Android application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what the App accesses, how visual processing works, and your rights as a user.
Keyboard Effects adds animated visual effects — such as particle bursts, ripples, glows, and trails — that appear when you tap keys on your keyboard. These are purely graphical overlays. The App processes touch position data only to determine where to render the animation, and this data is never stored, logged, or transmitted.
Information Collection
Keyboard Effects requests the following permissions to deliver its visual effects functionality:

Keyboard Effects does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, keystroke data, typed text, or input method events. The only "input" the App processes is the X/Y screen coordinates of touch events — used solely to position the animation — and these coordinates are immediately discarded after rendering.
Use of Data — Visual Processing Pipeline
To be fully transparent, here is exactly how Keyboard Effects processes information when you tap a key:
At no point in this pipeline does the App access, read, or process the identity of the key pressed, the character typed, or any text content. The App only knows "a touch occurred at position (X, Y)" — not what key that corresponds to and not what text was entered.
Additional data uses:
- Effect preferences: Your selected effect style, color, intensity, and speed are stored locally on your device using Android SharedPreferences and are never transmitted externally.
- Overlay rendering: The
SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOWpermission is used solely to display the animation layer. The App does not read, capture, or interact with any content displayed by other apps.

Neither AdMob nor Facebook Audience Network has access to any keyboard input, touch coordinates, or typed text. These services only interact with standard advertising identifiers. Zboston App Studio does not receive or process any personal data from these services.
IME Security & Visual Processing Statement
We understand that any app interacting with keyboard input raises legitimate security concerns. Here is our comprehensive security statement:
Keyboard Effects is NOT an Input Method Editor (IME). It does not replace your system keyboard, does not register as an input method service, and does not have access to the Android InputMethodService API. It cannot read what keys you press or what text you type.
- The App operates as a visual overlay service, not as a keyboard or input processor.
- Touch coordinates (X/Y position) are used only for animation positioning and are discarded immediately after rendering — they are never stored, logged, or transmitted.
- The App has no access to the Android InputConnection, EditorInfo, or any IME-related APIs that would expose typed content.
- No clipboard access is requested or used.
- No network requests are made that contain any user-typed content or touch coordinate data.
- The App's network activity is limited to loading advertisements from AdMob/Facebook and downloading effect assets (graphics/animations only — no user data).
- The overlay permission (
SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) is used only to render animations. It does not grant the ability to read screen content, capture screenshots, or interact with other apps' data.
User Rights
- Right to revoke permissions: All permissions can be revoked at any time through your device Settings. Revoking the overlay permission will disable visual effects. Revoking other permissions may limit specific features.
- Right to erasure: Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored effect preferences from your device entirely.
- Right to opt out of personalized ads: You may opt out via your device's ad settings or through the third-party providers listed in Section 4.
- Right to information: You may contact us at any time to request clarification about our data practices.
- CCPA / California Rights: We do not sell personal data. California residents may contact us for further information.
- GDPR Rights (EU/EEA users): Since we do not process personal data ourselves, GDPR rights primarily apply to the third-party services in Section 4.
Children's Privacy
Keyboard Effects is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you have concerns, please contact us immediately.
